TEMPERAMENT
Today’s Boston Terrier is known for being playful, affectionate, and well mannered. Members of this breed are good with other dogs and generally get along well with non-canine pets. However, the Boston Terrier is a genuine “people dog,” preferring to be with his or her owner rather than with other animals. A gentle nature makes Boston Terriers wonderful pets for children.
Although Boston Terriers are generally not aggressive, these alert canines make marvelous watchdogs, taking great pride in defending their masters. It is difficult to find a more devoted, loyal dog.
Despite the fact these dogs may have a stubborn streak, Boston Terriers are one of the easier breeds to train. Not only do they like to learn and please their owners, but they are also highly intelligent and sensitive to tone of voice.
LIVING CONDITIONS
Because they are sensitive to weather extremes, Boston Terriers are basically indoor dogs who require air-conditioning in the summer and a coat in the winter. These dogs also have a well-earned reputation for being escape artists and should not be left unattended in the yard.
